With the tax incentive, the audiovisual guild hopes to open the door to international productions in Ecuador.

Ana Piñeres, Colombian film producer: ‘We can begin to make co-productions, alliances and present ourselves as a regional strength’.

In Colombia, the audiovisual investment certificate is in force thanks to film law 1556. It is a tax credit of 35% of what is invested in a given period.

“The Colombian government grants international companies that invest in audiovisual production services, and in everything that requires an audiovisual production, tax credits of 35% of what is invested. That is to say, if 10 million dollars are invested, 3.5 million dollars will be returned in a document, which by the way is totally valid in the Colombian stock market and (to) be negotiated, to deduct taxes and so that, somehow, that becomes a cash that returns a benefit to the companies that have invested in the national economy”, explains producer Ana Piñeres, president of Egeda Colombia.
